Abbreviated Breast MRI: Our Two-Year Initial Experience

Abstract Objective The aim of this study was to retrospectively evaluate and present our two-year experience with abbreviated breast MRI at academic institution as a screening tool identify primary cancers. Methods Employing eight specialty trained radiologists, studies were interpreted using the BI-RADS lexicon in IRB-approved retrospective study. protocol utilized T1-weighted, fat-saturated, pre- post-contrast, short T1 inversion recovery images, completed within 10 minutes. Abbreviated offered asymptomatic women all densities, whose ages ranged from 24 90 years. Statistical analysis performed for comparative data utilizing estimated odds ratios. Results Of 1338 patients that met inclusion criteria, 83% (1111/1338) 1 or 2, 9.0% (121/1338) 3, 8% (106/1338) categorized either 4 5 recommended biopsy. Biopsy yielded 15 cancers positive predictive value (PPV) 2 14.2% PPV3 18.5%, 76% (81/106) undergoing An additional cancer detected 3 finding. All heterogeneously dense extremely breasts. Therefore, 16 detected, yielding detection rate 12.0 per 1000. Over next 12 months, no interval detected.
